Wishing on Stars
In honor of our beloved writing colleague Marti Parker, I contributed a short story to this anthology compiled by members of the Stockholm Writers Group. Here is a small section from my story, "Wishing on Stars," an excerpt from my middle grade novel.
My mother’s grave lay in the shade of a big leafy maple tree. She was a mother who liked to climb trees. She would crawl up the big oak in our backyard when I was little. I would call out to her, afraid she would fall. She held out her hand to me, coaxing me to join her, but I hung back. I wish now I had been brave enough to try.
